The useful starting point
Record the hand-measurement method and check the complete glove on both hands. Keep junior fit, adult fit and observations about rein contact separate from size-label assumptions or performance claims.
Confirm the glove measurement method first
Request the chart and measuring instructions for the reference being considered. Confirm whether it uses hand circumference, hand length or both, where each measurement starts and ends, and which unit applies. Record the method with the measurement. A number without its measuring points is difficult to compare when another supplier uses a different approach.
As one manufacturer example, Hestra describes measuring hand circumference below the knuckles with the thumb excluded, then comparing the result with the product's chart. That example is not a PoloSolo size chart or a universal size conversion. Use the method confirmed for your selected glove and review a sample, especially when choosing junior sizes or moving between brands.

Check finger length, palm fit and cuff closure
Put on both gloves and identify where the fingers finish relative to the intended fit. Note excess material, pulling between the fingers or a seam that feels misplaced. Review the thumb separately and compare the two hands. Avoid assuming a palm measurement alone resolves every finger-length question.
Open and close the hand and operate the cuff fastening. Record whether the glove can be put on and removed as intended and whether the closure sits in the proposed position. If the junior sample is being reviewed, use the intended junior fit group rather than accepting an adult review in its place. Discuss the sample scope and who will provide fit feedback with the team.
Swipe or scroll the table to view every column.
| Area | What to observe | Useful feedback |
|---|---|---|
| Fingers and thumb | Length, excess folds, pulling and seam position | Identify the finger, hand, sample size and exact issue |
| Palm and back | Fit with the hand open and closed | Describe the movement and where bunching or tension appears |
| Cuff | Opening, fastening position and wrist movement | State whether the issue is access, closure position or fit |
| Junior vs adult | Fit group and selected chart | Keep separate records even when a size label matches |
Review rein contact and movement in the agreed conditions
Using the review conditions agreed for the sample, note where the reins contact the palm and fingers and where seams or folds sit. Record the rein type and the movement used in the review so the feedback has context. Ask which material and reinforcement details belong to the specification rather than inferring them from a photograph.
A fit observation is not a slip-resistance, durability or safety certification. If the brief depends on a stated material property, care method or performance requirement, agree how it will be substantiated separately. Black or white colour also does not establish competition eligibility; identify any intended competition requirement for separate confirmation.
Record fit feedback by sample and size
Keep one record for each reference, sample size and fit group, with the measurement method, observations and requested changes. Include clear photographs if helpful and distinguish an artwork correction from a pattern or construction change. The next review should identify the revised sample and show how the earlier issue was resolved.
Use GLOVE-01 or GLOVE-02 as the starting reference for a PoloSolo discussion and state whether your intended range is adult, junior or both. Once the fit and chart are agreed, build the quantity matrix in pairs by colour and size. Minimum quantities, sample arrangements, product details and the manual quote remain matters for the specific order.
