Use advice for the place you will actually visit
Read the current Thailand advisory and its regional warnings before travel. Country-level alerts do not mean every part of Bangkok has the same risk, and an area description here is not a safety rating.
FCDO discusses theft, bag-snatching and nightlife incidents in Thailand. In practice, keep your phone and bag controlled in crowds, do not leave belongings unattended at a café, and separate a backup payment method from your main wallet.
Transport is a safety decision too
Choose a journey you can follow and a pickup location you can identify. An unfamiliar motorcycle ride is not simply a cheaper substitute for a train or car; consider the road risk, your experience and insurance conditions.
For a late return, decide how to get home before starting the evening. Save the address and keep enough charge and payment access for a licensed ride if your intended rail connection ends. A station name alone is not a complete door-to-door plan.

Heat, heavy rain and air quality
Check the forecast and current air-quality information, especially if you have a relevant health condition. FCDO notes that air pollution can be an issue in Bangkok. Advice from a clinician is more appropriate than a travel guide for individual medical decisions.
Keep a shaded or indoor alternative near each outdoor cluster. During heavy rain, shorten the route instead of insisting on the original walk. Carry water and leave time to rest; an itinerary should be easy to reduce without losing its main purpose.

Nightlife, drinks and boundaries
Keep sight of drinks and leave if an interaction or venue feels wrong. Drink-spiking and related incidents can affect travellers of different genders; do not assume that travelling alone or in a group removes the risk.
Share a plan with someone you trust if useful to you. Meeting a person socially does not oblige you to change hotels, join a vehicle or disclose your room number. For a first meeting, choose a public place with your own way back.
Who to contact
Save the numbers offline and reconfirm them against the official sources before travel. For a lost passport, contact local police where appropriate and your own embassy or consulate. The UK government's consular services are for eligible British nationals, not every visitor.
