Start here if you want a trip with a clear daily anchor but plenty of freedom between stops. A riverside morning, one booked museum or walking tour, and a meal near your base can make a complete day. Meeting people is optional; you do not need a dorm or a nightlife itinerary to enjoy the city alone.
If stairs or uneven surfaces are difficult, compare the whole route from the station to your room before committing to an atmospheric historic address. Visit Lisboa describes Alfama's steep streets and cobbles; it is a meaningful accommodation constraint, not just a photographic detail.

Three days or five?
With three full sightseeing days, group the historic centre, Belém and Alfama into separate outings. Avoid putting two timed attractions on opposite sides of the city in the same morning. Arrival and departure days count separately if your flights leave little usable time.
With five days, add an easier museum or riverside day and consider one day trip only after checking its transport and booking requirements. A spare half-day is useful for weather, fatigue or something you discover once there. The itinerary page turns this structure into morning, afternoon and evening choices.
Budget for travelling alone
Compare the final room total for one person. A private room is paid by you alone; a dorm bed may save money but changes noise, privacy and storage. Add both airport transfers, food, activities and a separate fallback amount for a licensed ride.
Metro lists a €1.90 Carris/Metro ticket and a €7.25 24-hour Carris/Metro product. Choose the product after counting your intended trips and checking what it covers. A city pass cannot solve an inconvenient accommodation location.
